Silverfish
Description:
Silverfish are silver to gun metal in color. They have a long, wingless, flattened body measuring 1/2 to 3/4 inches in length. They have long, threadlike antennae. At the posterior of the abdomen, they have 3 long, bristlelike appendages.
Prevention:
Begin by reducing the moisture and humidity by repairing leaky pipes, sealing up easily accessible cracks and crevices around the room especially around window sills, cabinets and moldings. Remove leaf and grass litter from the area immediately surrounding your home. Potential food supplies should be identified and access to those materials should be eliminated.
